THANKS TO ALL WHO SUPPORTED THIS EVENT - MUCH OF THE PLANNED INVOLVEMENT (see below pics) CAME TO FRUITION... ALTHOUGH LIKE FORREST GUMP A NUMBER OF MARATHON MUSICIANS CROSSED THE FINISH LINE AND JUST KEPT ON RUNNING - UNTIL SCOTT WISELY CALLED A 3AM HALT....

- THERE WERE SOME EXCELLENT EXTRA PERFORMANCES, INCLUDING SEVERAL WONDERFUL CONTRIBUTIONS FROM THE CHILDREN AND A ROMANTIC BALLAD FROM MARK TO HIS WIFE OF FOURTEEN DAYS...

- SOME INTERESTING VARIATIONS ON OLD SONGS <"WHAT SHALL WE DO WITH THE DRUNKEN MAYOR... HOORAY AND UP SHE RISES.....">

- IT'S BEEN GREAT TO SEE SUCH COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT, WONDERFUL TO SEE PEOPLE JUST GET UP AND HAVE A GO, AND IT'S BEEN A JOY TO HAVE SO MUCH FUN WHILST RAISING FUNDS TO ENSURE THE WAP SURVIVES AND FLOURISHES - A LATE NIGHT COUNT SUGGESTS THAT THE EVENT HAS RAISED OVER £350!!

****************************************

Who's in the running? ... little change since Tuesday's info below, but very rough timings are included

It seems Stan may have to appear live by satellite from a tent in distant hills...

Oliver and friends, (grandson of Colin and Sue Francis) may be joining at some point

Renowned Reveller Sir Clive of Puckshole is scheduled to sometime after the sun goes over the yardarm...

Wap Chair Stan has yet to be pinned down, but after Wap night revelry there has to be an encore from the main man....

Rumours are that 'Mick's Blessing' members (WAP Old Lords amongst them): Mick, Pete, Keir, Ruth (Wap Guard of Honour) and Cal will be contributing in various combinations, unplugged to over-amplified, and slaughtering everything from folk to Elvis, rock to soul, Blondie to Kaiser Chiefs

News is just in that accomplished local musician and vocalist Martin (lately of 'Smoothee' fame) will be taking time out of his busy tour schedule and dashing up from Bristol airport mid-evening... 8.30ish

Hot on Martin's musical heels, (subject to successful persuasion), we hope will come son Freddy (may be too jet-lagged) to head up the next generation of musical talent, and another voice from the pre-wrinkly section of the parish, former Wap Queen Alex is up for a repeat of her 2005 performance. mid evening

Peripatetic music maestro Steve (seen conducting the silver band at the Wap) will be speeding from another gig and brandishing his trombone for the late night climax - and if he's peripatetic enough (I think it means staggering around..) may take the mic and morph into Tom Jones or Frank Sinatra... 10.30/11

Wap Mayor Sheila is in line for a bodrhan solo 7.30ish, and daughter Dawn (Wap Mop Maiden) will be performing some great songs with co-star Tansy. 6.30ish

Vine Tree heroes; Scott (Wap Old Lord), Naomi (Wap Sword Bearer) and Minch (Wap High Sheriff) will be taking to the mic for some well-known classics.. all over the place

The Vine Tree's nearest neighbour Pete will be crossing the fence to sing and play a few tunes in the early section ?4.30..

New recruit to Wap activities Des is quite a pianist and will be proudly showing off his organ skills both solo and with friends, various slots inc. tea-time special and fellow Narnia stars from this year's Wap, Sue and Merci, have a song or two to offer... 7ish

Also:

  • there will be song sheets for the odd communal sing-along, and if history's anything to go by it surely will be odd!!
  • if plans work out there'll be a 'kids hour' from about 5.30
  • there is always space for more people to have a go.... just let me know
  • Sponsorship already topping £200!! Please lend your support to revitalise Randwick Wap - our unique festival of community events.
